Marrakech

Start your trip in the Red City. Marrakech has everything to offer, including winding souks and alleyways of the ancient medina, fascinating gardens and architecture, bustling nightlife and mystery...all set against the backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains.

Ouarzazate

Famously nicknamed the "Hollywood of Africa", this Saharan city has been the filming location for dozens of hit movies and TV series. But the local life is pretty picturesque as well, and a cool mix of urban city life mixed with mud & clay architecture, Ouarzazate is must-see on our hit list!

Chefchaouen

Behold, the Blue Pearl of Morocco! Sometimes, life takes us up North to the Rif Mountains to this little piece of paradise. Explore the famously blue medina, get some fresh mountain air and marvel at the beauty that Chefchaouen has to offer!

Erg Chegaga

Behold, the highest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara and our #1 favorite place to show visitors. Chegaga has that "something special"...a place where you can really switch off and connect with your wild, nomadic side. Our camps are fully equipped with real beds, showers and toilets, so you can enjoy comfort every night while exploring during the day. Each dinner is served family-style, followed by a bonfire, drum circle, and some epic star-gazing.

Essaouira

Just two short hours from Marrakech is the windy coastal town of Essaouira, a haven for chill vibes, kite surfing, and grilled fish. We recommend a day trip to see the medina for some history, a vineyard for some wine tasting, and a Moroccan goat cheese farm for an unforgettable lunch!

M'hamid el Ghizlane

The last official stop on the historic route to Timbuktu and birthplace of our co-founder Adil. M'hamid is a sleepy village and is commonly referred to as the "gates of the Sahara". The locals are friendly, yet conservative, and there's plenty of history to be seen here. We especially like M'hamid because its not overly touristic and gives a real "NatGeo" vibe to the trip. Last stop for water before the Sahara camps!

Agdz

In the palm oasis of the Draa Valley, at the base of the Atlas Mountains and the entryway to the Sahara, you'll find Agdz, one of our favorite stops on the route to our desert camps. This cool village has friendly locals, beautiful guesthouses and scenery that will take your breath away. Also a great place to buy dates!

Erg Lihoudi

Just a short off-road drive from the village of M'hamid el Ghizlane lies the dunes of Erg Lihoudi, and also the home of our family-owned Sahara camp. Dunes high enough for climbing and surfing, Erg Lihoudi is the first stop on the route to Erg Chegaga once you leave village life behind. Enjoy a sunrise breakfast with a view like this and ride a camel into the Sahara sunset!

Ait Ben Haddou

Situated on what was probably the country's most popular caravan trade route lies the village of Ait Ben Haddou, so rich in history UNESCO even said so. Get lost in the maze-like walled village, and maybe even climb to the top!

The Southern Loop of Morocco

Marrakech - Agdz - erg Chegaga - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Start by departing after breakfast in Marrakech, driving over the High Atlas Mountains and the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass, with sceneic views of terraced farmland and dotted with Berber villages. Watch as the scenery changes from mountainscape to canyon ridges as you enter the Draa Valley, home to 13 varieties of Date Palms and over 600km of a Palm Oasis.

The first night is spend in the Draa Valley home of Agdz, enjoying a night at our guesthouse - a rennovated kasbah in the middle of the palm oasis with stunning views of the Djbel Kissane mountains. Taste beautifully cooked local food, and all the comforts of home. The next morning starts with breakfast and departure for the village of M'hamid el Ghizlane, including a hyperlocal lunch break - and then heading offroad to the point of entry for all caravans once traveling from Timbuktu with goods for trade.

After a couple of hours, we reach the high dunes of Erg Chegaga by mid-afternoon. After getting settled in to your glamping accommodation in the camp, saddle up for a sunset camel ride around the dunes and one of the most magical views you'll ever get. Eat tagine with fellow campers, dance to the beats of Moroccan drums around the campfire, and gaze at the stars! Because the Sahara is too magical for only one night, we spend an extra day and night in the camp, where you’ll have the opportunity to join a day trip to find a traditional family of nomads still living the desert traditions of the past. See their way of life and maybe even get a cooking lesson in the process. Afterwards, we head back to the camp for some playtime, light yoga, camel rides or dune surfing.

Rise and shine the next morning to greet the Saharan sun and we'll depart from the camp mid-morning for the city of Ouarzazate, also known as the "Hollywood of Africa", the filming site for dozens of major films and TV series. On the way, we’ll stop at a women’s weaving co-op to visit the artists responsible for some of Morocco’s most amazing rugs and textiles. Learn the process of rug-making from dying wool to sitting at a loom, and then take some time to shop for your own magic carpet if you like!

When we arrive at the accommodation in Ouarzazate, enjoy a hot shower, a dip in the pool, and some time exploring this small city in the heart of Morocco's South. Our last day kicks off with a delicious breakfast and a truly magical drive through the valley of 1000 Kasbahs, seeing breathtaking scenery and kasbah ruins along the way. Crossing back over the Atlas Mountains, we'll have you back in Marrakech in time for dinner at your accommodation.
